I don't know ASP.NET too well but what I'm wondering what the advantages and could it be something used to process commands similar to programming language as C++?

ASP.NET uses .NET languages like VB.NET and C#, which are full OOP languages. You no longer use ADO to DB connections. Instead you use the provider that comes with .NET framework. A nice advantage is it support AJAX. Also if you really like C# and are familiar with it then the change to .NET will be easy.
It has great integration with SQL 2005 and now 008 and can take advantage of CLR SQL Procedures and a but of other interesting things.
Are you asking if it can execute server side terminal commands from client side? The answer is yes - to some extent.
A new web hosting platform that is rapidly growing are the ones based of Ruby and Ruby on Rails. I'd recommend thing as well.
