Web Developers! How much would you charge?

Hi,

I have recently been asked to quote a project for someone.

He wants a website similar to Eluxury.com, and the products will display in a Carousel system like Gucci.com

There will be no flash involved.

I will be using C# and .Net latest softwares.

I will be doing the Web Design, Web Development and a complex customized Admin system.

I think the total hours for this project will be at least 500 hours.

How many hours would you think something like this would take?

How much do you think I should charge him? This is the first real big company that has interested in my freelance work and I don't to be too cheap, but I don't want to be too expensive.

What do you think would be a fair market price I should charge?

Your help is very appreciated.

Web Developers! How much would you charge?
You can ask the company to post the project at freelance website like http://ww.getafreelnacer.com/ you also register at the site, many web designers will bid for the project, you can charge 15% less than the average bid posted for the project.
Reply:Base your pricing philosophy on the way any business does - what does the product (your time, in this case) cost, and how much profit do you want to make when you sell it. NO successful business uses any other model. (So if you want to earn $50/hour before expenses, and your time costs nothing, you charge $50/hour. You pay for your computer, utilities, rent and social security and income tax from that, so it's not all profit.)

I think the $40/hour minimum is a fair amount. Depending on your skill level, and the complexity/beauty/utility of the site you're going to deliver, you could charge up to $75/hour (or more).

Never base your price on not wanting to lose the job - try doing that when you're in a car showroom and see how far a business will go. If you're going to walk for $100 they'll drop the price, but if you want a new Caddy for $5,000 they'll not only let you walk, they'll escort you to the door and hold it open for you.

A workman is worthy of his hire - never forget that, whether you're selling or buying.
Reply:For custom web development and programming work, I charge a minimum of $40/hour. But, depending on the complexity of the project, you can certainly charge more than that.
Reply:I suggest you base you web design fee how much this project is worth to your client? If it is important to their company, they will not mind paying premium pricing for this level of design. In my opinion, I recommend you charge around $75/hour or $2500 total.
