Wich of the following is a motivation for a developer of free software?

A) sense of contribution and community.


B) valuable boots of developer's resume.


C) fills a developer's specific technical need


D) All of the Above.

Wich of the following is a motivation for a developer of free software?
For me, it's certainly D.





Somewhat, it's A; when I started, I needed lots of help, now it's my turn to give back. My participation here is largely B; it's free street cred. Lots of what I give away falls into C; I've done it, I got paid, might as well give it away.

Reply:Possibly D, though rarely is it "B." And in most cases, it is C more than anything...
Reply:It depends... if by free software you are refering to Open Source software, then it's a way to release an OK product, and have the expertise of programmers all over the world continue to develop your software with you (assuming that it's something interesting enough)





This is also good for kicking co's like Microshaft in the backside.





If you are developing free distributable software for which you wholly and solely own and control the source then it's probably just because it's something that interests you, or you're trying to pump up your resume for that awesome SD job that you've had your eye on
